All herbal mixes will appear to change slightly throughout the year. Why? The
mix will change. In other words herbs that were more on the surface before
are more towards the center now.
Just like if you poured Hershey's Chocolate Syrup in a glass of milk and didn't
mix it, you would still have chocolate mix but it wouldn't be mixed up. Or
if you only gave it a slight stir you would have beige milk (but still chocolate
milk).
The same is true with tablets. Herbs shift and the whole mix looks different.
As for a strong or odd taste not previously noticed, tableting is an art as
much as a science. Since herb particles do shift, the taste of a tablet can
change too. A tablet that was not pungent, can seem more pungent now. What
has happened? Herb placement has shifted, and the herbs that were more central
to the tablet, are found more near the surface, thus changing the taste.
Tablets are much like snowflakes (maybe not that random) but the look will
change (and should depending on the time of the year or crop harvest).
One herb can
sift to the surface of the tablet. This sort of thing happens all the time.
The more sensitive you are the more you will notice it. Some people are so
sensitive they can smell a tablet and detect a large number of the herbs in
the tablet. Amazing.
Take comfort in the fact that our formulas are exactly the same today as they
were 13 years ago. Interesting though isn't it?
